Windthrow timber processing and logistics

For the first time in the history of the KWF Tagung the KWF has organized this unique special show “Windthrow timber processing and logistics” together with following exhibitors: HSM Hohenloher Spezial-Maschinenbau GmbH & Co, Komatsu Forest GmbH, KOPA Forstmaschinen-Handels- und Reparatur GmbH, Welte Fahrzeugbau GmbH, WAHLERS Forsttechnik GmbH, Waldburg Forstmaschinen Wolfegg WFW GmbH, PM Pfanzelt Maschinenbau GmbH, IMPEX Forstmaschinen GmbH and Nuhn GmbH & Co. KG Abt. Forstmaschinen.

Around 2000 cbm of timber will be processed on 5 ha of slightly inclined windthrow area. The stand comprises 90-year old spruce with a mean DBH (diameter at breast height) of 28 cm. The visitor trail passes through the area so that all working ma-chines can be viewed from a safe distance.

The trees will be processed at a distance of 20 m from the skid trails. Visitors will be able to watch harvesters, forwarders and special tractors manufactured by the mentioned companies. The logs will be cross-cut according to the requirements of the Schmallenberg forest administration: short and long logs.

KOPA and Komatsu Forest will also demonstrate the loading of timber onto trucks provided by thee companies.
